IKEA: "Free money" when you use your debit card

Ikea

In a move to encourage more customers to use their debit cards when making payments, IKEA stores are giving you 1% back of your total purchase as a coupon off your next order.

Now, don't go run to IKEA and blow money that you don't have on things you don't need, but if any of you have some larger-ticket items budgeted to purchase at IKEA, this could be a nice reward for using your debit card.

More details here. (Thanks, Jennifer!)

My Ikea actually was offering 3% back, which was better than the 1% my credit card offers. Either way, the money comes from my bank account (when I pay off my credit card in full each month), so I took the debit rebate. I had a major purchase, so it really paid off. I had forgotten one item, so I was able to run back in and get it free with the coupon. And, it does roll (you get 1%/3% back on the next purchase, even with the rebate slip).

The Atlanta Ikea offers 3% as well.
