Get thee to KMart: Double Coupon Days!! (Select states only)
If you have a KMart nearby and you live in California, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, or Pennsylania, you will want to run over there with your coupon box or binder as fast as your legs can carry you. Seriously.
This is unheard of, but KMart is hosting Double Coupon Days at the stores in the six states listed (check here for a complete list of all stores participating) starting today through September 8, 2008! And get this: they are doubling manufacturer's coupons up to and including $2/1 coupons!
From what I've heard, they are not accepting internet printed coupons, you cannot use more than four of the same coupon in a transaction, and you cannot use more than 75 coupons in one transaction. In addition, they won't be giving any overage. But still, it could work out to some incredible deals on so many things.
Mercedes has some deals ideas listed here and Riannon has some deal ideas posted here . If you find more deals, please be sure to let us know what you find in the comments section!

I live in Missouri, however this is not in my area. I called my Kmart stores and they said it is just in the St Louis area. That is about 3 1/2 hours away. Just a note. Good luck to everyone and hopefully you are close enough to take advantage of this!

Jealous, jealous, jealous. I can think of a lot of stuff I could get for almost free! Sigh.

Yes, you have to check the list or call first - none of the ones near me in Illinois are doing it. Bummer.....

I live in Ca. (So. Cal) and noticed my store was not listed so I called (and spoke to the manager). They are not "participating" but if you were to go to the service desk and ask, they will enter them in manually. She said she just received the info this morning, and her employees are going to be trained on how to do it.

I am seriously jealous too. But I hope this test drive goes well and they extend it to my area. I have hope.

I live in OH and it's not in my area. I had heard about this event on Tuesday morning and immediately called the store. My local store is not participating. I'm jealous!!

According to Mercedes' list of participating locations, this is not offered in all California locations.

My Kmart in southern california also said they would honor the double coupon promotion even though they are not officially participating. It's worth a call to your local store!

I can only dream :sigh: We have NO doubles in fla!

I live in CA but not a listed store. I called and they are participating. Thanks to Kelly who posted earlier because I never would have called. Also, use the Revlon $2 coupon. I found one eye shadow that ended up free.

I did this at the cambell location in springfield, mo...I called s.glenstone and kearney(both didn't know about it) and the one on cambell had a packet of information, but no clue how to do it until I called and went there. When I called Diedra, told me to tell the cashier BEFORE I checked out about the promo and ask if she knew about it...well as I was doing that the cashier shrugged to the sign and said she had no clue what I was talking about, but she would let me keep going because it made me feel good about myself. (AGH!) I think if I didn't have my toddler with me I would have used "the hormonal pregnant lady" card to give her a piece of my mind, but I remembered God and smiled. However, Diedra and Tarra at the customer service desk who had to read(poor girls) step by step on how to do the promo. were amazing and very patient. The first time we tried it my total was $17 over what I expected and I could not figure out where it was from (until I realized a 4 coupons were sticking) and so I left and walked right back in and both girls and myself were like OH!!!! That's where the extra is from...yea! So, it ended up a good trip after all. and the customer service girls need some credit for their patience.

Sorry to ask such a newbie question, but what if you use a coupon that is more than $2? For example, $3 off - does that mean they will take $5 off total ($3 plus double up to $2, = $5)? Thank you!
Posted by: Anne | September 04, 2008 at 10:56 PM
My store was not on this list but when I called they were well aware of this promo and said they were participating!!!!
Posted by: Michelle | September 05, 2008 at 06:19 AM
You can't get overages with this doubling. For example:
Reach Access Flosser
$2.50
- $2 Coupon
- $0.50 (they will double part of the coupon)
= FREE
Hope this helps :)

I live in the Greensboro, NC area and called my store a few days ago. They said they are doubling coupons starting on September 17th for 5 days. It's definitely worth the call to your store to find out. I don't know why they're doing a different date, but I'm happy about it!

My store in Bakersfield, CA wasn't listed but I called and they said they were participating. The first person I spoke to didn't know what I was talking about but the manager did.
I found some good deals, nothing free, but KMart is surprisingly expensive. Maybe I'm just a novice with not very many coupons. =)
When I went to check out the cashier didn't know anything about double coupons, asked the manager, and then received a sheet telling her how to manually input the double coupons. She was having trouble and I was waiting in line for a good 15 minutes (luckily I had a friend with me and the lady behind us in line was very talkative). The coupons finally went through and the girl even doubled the coupons that were over a dollar!!!
I was slightly upset that the manager or person in charge didn't teach their cashiers how to double the coupons. When I had spoken to him he obviously knew exactly what I was talking about, but the cashier and other employees gave me blank stares when I had asked them (I like to triple check about coupons). =0)
Either way, thanks for the deals!

I was a bit disappointed they didn't have many great deals. I never shop K-Mart and surprised to see they don't have good deals to begin with.
Ended up getting 3 Garnier shampoos & sonditners, one Sunsilk shampoo & conditioner, all for free, and a 12 pack of Durex condoms, on sale for $4.99, used $2/1 (doubled) & paid 99ยข. After tax, OOP was under $2.
I tried using a $4/1 Q for Quatro razors, but the cashier said they didn't double Q's over $2.

TENNESSEE is participating and yours probably is too! I called my local KMart. They said they are not, HOWEVER I called corporate and they called my store manager while I was on the phone. They've been advised to tell "callers" no, but to honor it in person.
1. Print off from MSM.com's blog the information about the promotion.
2. Take it to your store.
3. Speak to the manager, and call corporate if needed.
ENJOY! It ends Sept 8th! Go! Hurry! Shop! Rejoice!
Blessings,
Kim

Newbie trip at a Kmart in Southern CA. I purchased various quantities of the items below with all Qs doubled per their policy:
Clearasil Face Wash $4.99 - $2Q = $ .99
Lysol Disinfectant Spray $4.79 - $2Q = $.79
Dawn Dishwashing Foam $3.39 - $1.50Q = $.39
Ragu Jar Sauce = $1.99 $1/off 2Q = $ .99
Dove Shampoo & Conditioners $3.99 - $2Q = FREE
Sunsilk Shampoo & Conditioners $3 - $1.50Q = FREE
Reach Access Flossers = $2.50 - $2Q = FREE
Garnier Hair Gels & Sprays = $2 - $1Q = FREE
After reviewing the receipt at home, I realized 1 coupon did not scan. I had 21 coupons and it looked like she scanned them all, so that was my bad for not paying closer attention :) Thanks to all for the wonderful couponing advice. This site has been a blessing during these tough economic times!

I called my KMart in Ohio and they said Youngstown was the only store in the state that was participating. :(

Here's what I got at the Concord, CA store tonight:
3 Olay Face Washes, $5.19 each (3 - $2.00) $1.19 each
2 Clearasil Face Washes, $4.99 each (2 - $2.00 coupons) .99 each
1 Clearance Tote Bag $3.60
1 Clearance Tote Bag $2.40
1 Kotex Panty Liners $1.29 (1 - $.75 coupon) FREE
2 Dove Shampoos, $3.99 each (2 - $2.00 coupons) FREE
1 Dove Conditioner $3.99 (1 - $2.00 coupon) FREE
3 Sunsilk Conditioners, $3.00 each (3 - $1.50 coupons) FREE
1 Sunsilk Shampoo $3.00 (1 - $1.50 coupon) FREE
2 Pantene Expressions Shampoo, $4.50 each (2 - $2.00 coupons) $.50 each
3 Tums Smoothies, $1.89 each (3 - $1.00 coupons) FREE
1 Garnier Fructis Styler $2.00 (1 - $1.00 coupon) FREE
2 Garnier Fructis Shampoos, $2.00 each (2 - $1.00 coupons) FREE
1 Glade Aerosol Spray $.96 (1 - $1.00 coupon) FREE
4 Scott 8 Pack Paper Towels, $5.00 each (4 - $1.00 coupons) $3.00 each
28 items total.
Total after coupons: $28.55 ($5.05 of this was tax)
Used a $5 off of $50 coupon from signing up my email at www.Kmart.com (it was emailed to me immediately). Presented it to the cashier BEFORE my coupons.
I went into the store with low expectations and was pretty satisfied when I left. Nobody else was in there shopping with coupons, although I did notice a few products I had planned to buy were wiped out like the Sure Deodorant and a lot of the Garnier Fructis. There were 2 coupons that wouldn't take - the $2.00 coupon I tried to use on the $4.19 Revlon Nail Polish and the $1.00 off coupon on the Tums (I forget how much these were, but would've been free with the coupon). I didn't feel like arguing or waiting to get an override so I just had these items taken off of my purchase and I kept my coupons.

I had the WORST experience tonight. I actually left the store in tears!!!!
I posted earlier that I called the store and said they were not participating but would still double my coupons if I were to go to customer service. So, off to Kmart I went with my coupons. I spent about 45 minutes getting all of my products (several shampoos, conditioners, razors, shaving creams, deodorants, toothpaste...)I would say that I had well over 60 worth of stuff and was going to pay about 13.00 (I had it calculated out).
Once I got to customer service the manager was called and then her first words were "I never spoke to you..." I then said "so you are saying I am lying..." She then got really upset at me, "NO, I am not saying you are lying". Her accent was really distinct so I KNOW it was her that I spoke to.
I felt so uncomfortable. Other people were looking at me as it was causing quite a commotion. I just wanted to get my products and leave. They tried to double the coupons but they couldn't do it. At one point the lady said, "give her the products back and take them to Ralphs were they double coupons".
I had confrontations and this definitly was one. I am not a very "in-your-face" person and I was on the verge of tears. I am new mom of twins (well they are 7 months old) and I don't get out much. I had to wait until my husband got home for me to get out, and then put them to bed. I got there arond 8 pm and didn't leave until 10.
In the end they offered me a 25 gift card which was not the value of the products I wanted to buy (I had some GREAT razor coupons)but at that point I was so embarrassed that I took the gift card.
I was suppose to run three errands and didn't get anything accomplished. I drove home in tears thinking of the time I wasted, the feeling of someone telling me they never spoke to me (why would I make that up?????) and the overall horrible feeling of being talked to the way I was by the manager.

Heather - I had a problem w/ Tums Q too! I actually tried to use one the other night @ Wal-Mart & it wouldn't work, I didn't feel like arguing, so I dropped it. I used it @ K-Mart, and of course it didn't want to work, but the cashier was cool & called a manager over, after checking my product, etc, she overrode it & used it.

I called the K-mart's in Huntsville and Athens Alabama and they said they were not participating now... It is just running in certain test market's right now, but the Athen's store said they are supposed to have the same promotion around the 20th of September, so that made me excited! ;)

I just got back from my middle TN KMart, where corporate and my store manager talked yesterday and told me to bring my coupons and shop! However, when I got done shopping, I went up front where everyone now said this manager told them yesterday he was not participating at all. Finally, the on-duty manager agreed reluctantly. The customer service manager rang me up. I spent $55 (including tax) and saved $100 in mfr double coupons! Hooray! I found several things.
1. The Revlon $2 off any color cosmetic coupon does not work on the $4.19 nail polish.
2. I chose not to use the $5 off $50 coupon because I didn't get to $50 subtotal (pre-tax), and it clearly states that coupon is to be used AFTER all coupons and discounts. I really want them to see us use these coupons ethically, so they'll do this again!
3. KMarts prices are really high, so double high-dollar coupons didn't go as far as I'd hoped.
4. The cashier had been instructed to ring up each coupon twice and override any beeps.
5. Their clearance apparel, handbags, bandanas, etc, are 40% MORE off than the lowest tag!
Blessings,
Kim
