What are you buying at Walgreens this week? What deals did you see?

I took 2 bags of Lifesavers candy to the register and gave them my buy 1 get 1 manufacturers coupon and the register wouldn't accept the coupon. Any thoughts?

I just wanted to add that there are 3 more free after rebate items that you don't have listed on your post. 1)Excedrin Express Gels 20 pack @3.99 (in stores Sept. 7th) 2) Chemistry Hair Care @7.99 3) Walgreens Pitcher Filter Replacement Cartridge @6.99. That means that there are $59.01 in FAR items this month which makes $64.90 with the 10% rebate. Yeah!

Thanks for the link to the Excedrine Migraine coupon. Free RR! Whoo Hoo!!
There are also a couple of coupons in the Rx booklet that might work this week. $1 off multi purpose contact solution and it is on sale BOGO. And one for Walgreens Mucus Relief for $3 off, it's also on sale BOGO this week.
Happy Shopping!

I haven’t used coupons before but would like to get started after reading about all of the savings. Where/How do you get the SmartSource coupons? When you say “insert” (such as the lifesavers are from the 6/8 insert) what is the insert and how do I get it?
Posted by: Melissa | September 01, 2008 at 07:18 PM
I took advantage of the Gillette Buy3 or more get $3 RR. I got 6 Satin Care Shave Gels and received 2-$3 RR, making them $0.44 a piece. I also picked up the free Excedrin!
Check it out Here-

There is a problem with the Life savers coupons...there were 2 released...one was for bags and the other single rolls. Seems the bar codes were mixed up on the coupons beacuse the roll Q works perfectly for the bags and the Baq Q will work on the rolls. If you try to use them on what the coupon states they will beep.

I just noticed when I was entering my receipts that the sept. rebates include two extra at the bottom of the whole list in addition to all the things already listed for the space bags! (Last month the space bags were FAR, but they kept running out. I'm wondering if they are doing this to satisfy unhappy customers?) And do you think, since I already go the space bags last month, could I get them again this month? Anyone ever tried that?

Ashley, I was just coming to mention that the vacuum bags are re-run this month because most stores were out of them for all of August. If you got them last month, you can still get them again this month. They did the same thing in the spring with a razor and Yes to Carrots - and I got both free after rebate both months. Now I just hope I can find the bags, because I really wanted them!

I have a Walgreens Rebate question -
I just submitted my second month of rebates. First month - no problem! This month, though, I wasn't credited for one of the rebates (the Jane cosmetics/brush for $4.99 FAR). I checked it off when I submitted it online, and it was on the same receipt as other rebate items that DID credit.
I plan to call them tomorrow to talk to them and see what's up. Any tips? Thankfully I haven't opened it yet - so if they won't credit my rebate, I'll just return it...

My store wouldn't accept the $2 Revlon coupon on the nail color because there wasn't a nail color in the picture of items on the coupon, and the coupon beeped when scanned.

Be on the lookout for a $1 Wags coupon (tear off pad) for the Loreal wrinkle treatment. I was able to use this plus my $3 manufacturer coupon in addition to the free rebate!

I tried to use a B1G1 coupon for the B1G1 Rimmel makeup last week and was told I wasn't allowed. Does anyone know what the official policy is on this at Walgreens?
Posted by: Marin | September 02, 2008 at 06:28 AM
My store wouldn't accept the Revlon coupon either. They said nail polish wasn't a cosmetic.
Posted by: Marin | September 02, 2008 at 06:31 AM
Jessica,
It did that to me too. I politly told the clerk that it has always worked on nail polish before and she entered it manually. I think you have to get a nice clerk for it to work.
Sorry you had trouble!

There is also a good deal on the Ultra Alkaline batteries. They are B1G1 priced at 7,99 for one but there is a $3 coupon in the prescription savings booklet. My sister did this and got $3 taken off of each pack of batteries so she ended up paying $2 for 2 packs of batteries. I tried the same thing and they would only take off $3 for one pack of batteries because the other one rings up at $0 and because it is a store coupon not a MC they would be losing $3. Either way I still paid only $5 for 32 batteries. Either way it is still a really good deal for $2 or $5. Also there are bandaids on sale B1G1 priced at $2.99 and there is a $1 coupon in the Pres Saving Booklet to make these a really good deal as well.

At my Walgreens (and hopefully at yours, too) a lot of perfume is clearanced. I was able to get a small purse size "Red Door" for my mother-in law for about $3 after register rewards and overage from other items.

Hi,
My sister called and told me that she thought Visine was a moneymaker this week. I've looked at it several times and it looks like to me that she is right. She said her Visine rang up for 3.99 and she had a $3/1 Q froma recent insert, and she used the $2/1 coupon from the easy saver. For an overage of $1. I haven't been to the store yet, so I looked them up online and the cheapest price for Visine there is $4.79, with $5 in discounts ( Q and ES ) your still making a bit and getting free visine.

There is an in ad coupon for 1/2 off ink cartridge refills this week. I got the free one a while ago, and it did not last as long as new ones do. But, for $5 I think it is worth having a spare in my drawer.

Received an email today from Walgreen's about photo mugs you can make. I started thinking about Grandparent's Day
(this Sunday -Sept. 7). I had recently bought a clearanced teeshirt for one grandparent. Anyone have other ideas for frugal, meaningful gifts?
Posted by: Hannelore | September 02, 2008 at 09:57 AM
Melissa, the "inserts" are the coupons that come in the Sunday newspaper. There are several kinds: Vlassis, Smart Source, Red Plum, Procter & Gamble, etc. Also, a lot of people buy a magazine called All You at Walmart-it has lots of coupons.

Genevieve, I had a problem with an item a couple months ago. I purchased an item that was clearly marked on the shelf as the correct one, but when I submitted it, it didn't go through. I called the rebate number, and they said it wasn't the correct item. I tried to convince them that it was, but they said there was nothing they could do. I called the store and spoke to the manager, and he ended up giving me the refund because it was the correct item. Apparently, Walgreens hires a company that does the rebates for them. So if you don't get anywhere with them, talk to the store manager, and hopefully he'll help you out.

If anyone received the Nivea sample that you posted in July or last month (can't remember now), it came with a $1 off coupon. Haven't looked to see what the P&G coupon is worth, but that item is definitely a money maker and on my list.

I stocked up on the shaving gel too. Bought 2 Gillettes and one Satin Care for $1.99 each. Used a $2 RR and 2 P &G 55 cent coupons. Paid $3.20 oop and got a $3 RR back. If you have more of the P& G coupons...it's even a better deal.

Is there a limit on how many of an item you can get with coupons. Especially if it will be free. Example you have lotion for 2.00 and you have 5 $2 off could you use all 5 or is there a limit?
Posted by: Katie | September 02, 2008 at 02:38 PM
Excedrin PM is included in the $1.99 sale/RR deal. There was a $2.00 coupon for any Excedrin PM in the 7/13 SS. These are normally $5.29 at my store, so this is a great deal!

Ok - so my first post freaked out on me - don't know if you got it, but I just wanted to thank you for posting this stuff! It's amazing!!! THANK YOU!!

I went to Walgreens (Ft. Worth area) today to get SunSilk shampoo which was on sale B1G1. I was excited to see that they had two bottles with a free, looks to be full size mousse attached. If you have the $1.50 off SunSilk coupons that came out a few weeks ago, you end up getting two bottles of shampoo and two things of mousse for $1.29!
