I'm not making this up!

I was just out for a quick grocery shopping trip when I passed a nearby gas station and my eyes nearly popped out of my head. I must be seeing things. Surely that's not really right.

But no, the sign was very clearly advertising gas for $1.99 a gallon.

$1.99 a gallon!!

Now that is certainly something to get excited about! With many prices on the rise, it is exceptionally nice to see gas prices falling... and falling at such a rapid rate! Wow!

I've heard that gas prices are close to the lowest in the nation where we live but I'm curious if anyone else has seen gas go below $2/gallon in their area? If not, hopefully you'll be seeing it soon!

WOW, I can't wait for that here - we are about 1 week behind everyone else - time to crank over the ole one ton truck and get her to town for fueling - seriously - we have run her on fumes trying to hold out for cheap gas!

Down to $1.88 today in parts of Central Indiana!

It's still around $2.50 here in West Michigan!

We are at $2.25 here in Lafayette Indiana, but according to the news there are some places around Indianapolis that are $1.99. This is wonderful news!

I am so happy (and relieved) that gas prices are heading down, down, down. I just pray they stay there. I hear that we are at a 3 yr low right now. In the Cincy area, we are at about $2.27 / gallon.

Southwest Oklahoma ~ $1.97! Yeah!!!!!

Today it was $2.69 here in West Virgina

OUCH! Why are we still at $2.65 here in N.C.???????

Crystal, are you in the South? I remember when I lived in Georgia, I paid $.99/gallon and it used to cost me $10 to fill up the tank of my little Civic. I am in Chicagoland and it is $2.79 today!

San Francisco Penisula...$3.15 is the lowest I've seen. CA rates are always some of, if not THE, highest in the nation....I'll be happy if they go below $3!!

I am in Fort Worth paying $2.15 but Burleson only a few miles away is $1.97. With an Explorer every penny adds up quick!

$2.04 in Ypsilanti, MI !!!

In So Cal it's at $2.79, which is great for us! Enjoy the cheaper gas!

I was thrilled yesterday to fill my minivan for a mere $34.50! We are still well over $2 a gallon here in the Pacific NW. I remember when my girlfriend and I would get ourselves to school all week on $2 worth of gas!

$2.39 in GA

$1.99 here in Central Arkansas

Here in Brownsburg, IN, we have gas for $1.83.

We hit $1.98 over the weekend in southern Missouri.:)

Im jealous, here in California its 2.69...which we think is cheap! Hope it gets below $2 here eventually!

I bought gas at Dillons today and with my 10 cent discount I paid $1.95 a gallon.

South Texas is $1.90 w/ a walmart gift card(that gives you 3 cents off a gallon!)

gas was $1.99 at HEB this morning :-) very nice!
San Antonio TX

We're at 2.29 here in central New Jersey

We're still around $2.25 here in Virginia... but we may as well enjoy it while we can! It's better than celebrating over $3.99 gas!

~~Central Florida~~ The gas is about 2.47 a gallon. When we were in Ocala Florida this weekend ( Ocala is about 60 miles north of Orlando) the gas was 2.20 a gallon.

Am looking forward to seeing the price going under 2.00 a gallon.

We're at $1.96 near Richmond VA - yeah!

I just saw gas today for $2.95 and that is on the Central Coast of California. We always are so expensive here so $2.95 is wonderful!! Can't wait to see how far it will drop.

I filled up my Jeep at $2.06 here in South Texas today!! :)

Aaargh! In California we're just excited that it's gone below $3 a gallon for the first time in years. At its peak a few months ago it was $4.67 a gallon at the cheap gas station!

I was visiting family in Bonham, TX this weekend (90 miles from Dallas), and it was $1.97!

Seems like everyone is asking this question this week.
I'm paying $4.49 - in Alaska.

I live in NC, but saw this on our local news in a "gas price" story. They were talking about places in the MidWest that had prices under 2 bucks. That's awesome!

I for one can't wait for the prices to get lower here in NC. Especially since I drive a car that must use premium gas! Send that cheap gas our way, please!!

I've seen it at $1.99 - $2.19 in our area...SW Ohio. Depends on the neighborhood here! Our monthly gasoline bill might just be lower than groceries this month!!??!!

Wow that is wonderful news. I was out today and I saw it for 2.29 but if I could find it for 1.99 that would be great! Julie - CouponSavingFamily.com

We are around 2.70 here in the Seattle area

$2.09 in Minnesota!

NE Oklahoma is about 2.05, but that's for the cruddy 10% ethanol blend that's everywhere here now. It's in almost all gas stations and cuts our mpg's by as much as 30% for some people. I lose about 5 mpg's in my Civic. So, we have to pay anywhere from 10 to 25 cents more for 100% gasoline. Not sure who the current form of ethanol is really helping. Definitely not us w/o flex fuel cars whose normal cars get gunked up over time from the "acceptable amount" of up to 10%. Sigh.

Here in NW Indiana it's still at $2.50. As exciting as it seems, the dropping gas prices will have a negative effect on the economy in the long run. We can't win!

Gas is at a rock bottom "low" of $3.08/gallon here in Buffalo, NY!!!

It is $2.19 here in Detroit, MI (and as low as $2.03 in surrounding areas). E85 is $1.79; too bad my car doesn't take it.

It's $1.99 here in south central Kansas. Was $2.04 this morning and by this evening it had dropped to $1.99.

$2.59 in mesa arizona

$2.97 CA. LOL. I really don't mind gas price being $2.97/ gallon as long as it stays this way. Don't want to see gas price going up over $4.00 again.

In my town in central Iowa, we're at 2.04. Just 10 miles south, it's 1.99.
In the town where my sister lives, it's 1.97!

Here in Seattle, we're thrilled to see prices lower than $3.00 a gallon!

we are in the southeast area of washington state and we are around 2.67 a gallon. can't wait to see it get lower :)

Whoa! Tennessee (Nashville area at least) must be falling behind. We're still at $2.59. And I thought that was good, ha ha!

Just checked out our local news web site and it is showing the cheapest area price is 2.39...Boy do I hope it hits 1.99! That would be awesome!

2.59 a gallon if FL
I don't think it will be lower for much longer after the presidential elections are over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ours here in east Texas is around 2.19, but a friend said they found it for 1.80in the Dallas area!!! Keep those prices falling!
