I'm not making this up!
I was just out for a quick grocery shopping trip when I passed a nearby gas station and my eyes nearly popped out of my head. I must be seeing things. Surely that's not really right.
But no, the sign was very clearly advertising gas for $1.99 a gallon.
$1.99 a gallon!!
Now that is certainly something to get excited about! With many prices on the rise, it is exceptionally nice to see gas prices falling... and falling at such a rapid rate! Wow!
I've heard that gas prices are close to the lowest in the nation where we live but I'm curious if anyone else has seen gas go below $2/gallon in their area? If not, hopefully you'll be seeing it soon!

WOW, I can't wait for that here - we are about 1 week behind everyone else - time to crank over the ole one ton truck and get her to town for fueling - seriously - we have run her on fumes trying to hold out for cheap gas!

I live in NC, but saw this on our local news in a "gas price" story. They were talking about places in the MidWest that had prices under 2 bucks. That's awesome!
I for one can't wait for the prices to get lower here in NC. Especially since I drive a car that must use premium gas! Send that cheap gas our way, please!!
Posted by: Kimberly | October 29, 2008 at 06:34 PM
I've seen it at $1.99 - $2.19 in our area...SW Ohio. Depends on the neighborhood here! Our monthly gasoline bill might just be lower than groceries this month!!??!!

NE Oklahoma is about 2.05, but that's for the cruddy 10% ethanol blend that's everywhere here now. It's in almost all gas stations and cuts our mpg's by as much as 30% for some people. I lose about 5 mpg's in my Civic. So, we have to pay anywhere from 10 to 25 cents more for 100% gasoline. Not sure who the current form of ethanol is really helping. Definitely not us w/o flex fuel cars whose normal cars get gunked up over time from the "acceptable amount" of up to 10%. Sigh.

Here in NW Indiana it's still at $2.50. As exciting as it seems, the dropping gas prices will have a negative effect on the economy in the long run. We can't win!

$2.97 CA. LOL. I really don't mind gas price being $2.97/ gallon as long as it stays this way. Don't want to see gas price going up over $4.00 again.
