Walgreens: Free Reach toothbrushes and floss

Reach-fresh-clean-toothbrush

Ginger left a comment on the Walgreens Deals post saying that her Walgreens has Reach toothbrushes and Reach floss on sale for $0.99 this week. If your store is also running this sale, you can get them for free using the $2/1 or $1/1 Listerine/Reach coupons here (not all zip codes are showing these coupons but most are showing one of the coupons) or the $1/1 coupon in the 07/14 coupon insert.

Thanks, Ginger!

To get a 1.50/2 Reach Product coupon as well.

HI! I went back today to get some more using the new coupons from yesterdays paper. The girl at the counter wouldn't take them, so I went to Kroger. They had the same sale and took my coupons. I love it! Ginger

I can NEVER get Walgreen's to take a coupon if it is over the amount of the item. Even a penny! They won't even adjust the coupon down to match. I have found some other Walgreen's which are more coupon friendly than the one near my house, so maybe I should try there.

I'm somewhat new to the coupon world. I've used before but not nearly as savy as you girls :) This may be a dumb question but when you say to use two of a particular coupon how does this work when the coupon says "Limit one offer per transaction"?

I went to my neighborhood Walgreens tonight to snag this deal, and the clerk said he couldn't ring the coupon without a manager approval. After he spoke with the manager, he had to price-adjust the item up to $1, and then with the coupon, I got it for free.

Fine by me!

So, I was just looking at my receipt from Walgreens. In addition to the dental floss that I got for "free" I also bought a package of razor blades for $19.99. Our sales tax rate is 9.5%. The subtotal of my receipt was $19.99, for the razor blades, but my sales tax was $2.09. I calculated that I was charged sales tax on my free dental floss!

Is that normal? Should I be charged sales tax on items I used a coupon and didn't "pay" for?

Hi Kristen, my Walgreens ALWAYS charges me tax on ALL items in my transaction. Even though the coupon reimburses them for the full price of the item, they still have to pay tax on items that leave their store, and the coupon doesn't cover that. I have noticed, though, that this isn't generally the case at CVS. They often reduce the tax based on coupons and ECBs used. So maybe it's just WAGS policy? Either way it's made me reconsider buying some of the "freebies" at Walgreens sometimes - that $4 toothpaste, free after RR, still costs me $0.28...

Thanks, Megan. That's good to know. This is only the second time I've gotten something for free using a coupon, and the first time at Walgreens (the other time was a deodorant at Target, and I bought a BUNCH of other stuff then).

We don't have CVS where I live. Still, I got a good deal, even if I did have to pay sales tax! Now if only I could do something about the ridiculous price of razor blades....

my walgreens 53545 doesnt have the tooth brushes on sale for .99 but they had the floss. i even asked them and they said they werent going on sale. but i got 2 of the flosses for free yay.

I would love to start using the coupons but for some reason I can't print them. I have tried uninstalling the coupon printer and then reinstalling. It says my printer is ready to print when I push the start button (which I never have to do when I print something else) but when I do press the start button it prints out a blank page. Can someone help me?

Alright - looking for advice on this one. I went yesterday to buy 4 Ragu + 4 Skippy, and had 6 coupons for them (2 Ragu $1.25/2 Qs...). In addition, I had an $8 Walgreens gift card I recvd the prior week.

The $8 RR didn't print, so I asked for the manager (asst mgr on duty) and she said it was either due to the coupons (what a surprise) or the Walgreens gift card. I said that I had the same problems the prior week with RR not printing, and the store mgr just went ahead and gave me a $8 W card for the trouble (apparently he got yelled out by his boss over this practice.. the asst mgr told me this).

I put in a call to consumer relations (800-289-2273) and this is the response I got from a La Shay - **even though the ad says a RR will print out, it won't always print for everyone**. I confirmed by saying it's not reliable and she said yes. I lodged a complaint and will receive a response within 2-3 days... anyone experience something like this before? I seriously question (again) going to Walgreens to shop with stuff like this.

I am not going to Walgreen's anymore. They wouldn't take my $1 Q for the floss, and I bought 2 of the Purex 3 in 1 and I only got one $2RR for it. I was supposed to get two. And this is AFTER the guy spending 10 minutes trying to figure everything out and having to void and re-ring again and again. Is it just me or do the high school kids who work at night know how to run the register better than the adults?! It seems that everyone has these problems with Walgreen's and I am sooooo over it!!

Money Saving Mom here: Sorry you had a frustrating transaction! Just so you know, you can only get one RR per transaction for the same item. So if you bought the 2 Purex in one transaction, the register will usually only give you one RR. But if you bought them in two separate transactions than you should have definitely gotten two different RRs.
