Target: Free apples, almost-free bananas, and more!

It's another hot week for deals at Target. I'm especially excited because you can possibly get free apples and bananas!

Many Target stores have apples priced at $1 per pound. Buy one pound and use this $1/1 coupon to score free apples.

Bananas are reportedly priced at $0.57 per pound. Buy one pound and use this $0.50/1 coupon to get them for $0.07 per pound! (Thanks, Thrifty in Dallas!)

If your Target store allows you to use multiple Target coupons per transaction you should be able to snag quite a few bananas and apples for free or almost-free. And if you Target store limits you to one of the same Target coupon per transaction, you can just do multiple transactions in order to get lots of fresh fruit for next to nothing. You can freeze both apples and bananas so stock up on this great deal!

The target closest to me only offers prepackaged apples and bananas. The bananas are packages in 1 ib pack for $0.99 and the apples are $2.99 for a 3 ib bag. I was really hoping for some free/close to free fresh fruit :/ Thanks for the post though!!

Target is implementing a new coupon policy - we ran into trouble at our store this weekend. Here is a permalink to the whole store. Thought some of your readers might be interested to know.

http://savingsandstewardship.blogspot.com/2009/08/note-regarding-targets-coupon-policy.html

I went this past weekend with the apple coupon. The apples were mostly $1.49 or over. I did not find any .99 I know this varies by region...I live in Knoxville, TN. I was thinking apple season is fast approaching so the price should start falling. Regardless, I did find them for .99 the last time the coupon was out. It's funny how much produce prices fluctuate. And how much they vary by region.

Where in the store is the $1 section usually located?

I was wondering what the deal was with using a coupon that is .01 more than the cost of the product. I have never been able to use a $1 q for an item that cost .99! Is there a printbale Target coupon policy available that I could show the people at Target? Is this a good idea or will they get all irritated with me? I really want to do the deals but I do not want to create a huge deal about it. Thanks for your help!

How do you freeze apples? Other than applesauce I never tried.

I did notice that on my last Target trip where I tried to get the ALL travel size detergents with the $1 off coupon (valid for ANY size), my cashier first said she didn't think the coupon would work, tried anyway, then informed it did not work because it's only good on the big ones. The coupon did not state that. Anyway, I thought it was just the cashier... but if Target did change their policy I will be sad. I love shopping at Target.

just wondering if I am missing the boat, how do you freeze apples for use? Bananas will turn brown and mushy --- good for bread but what else? and apples? never tried. Thanks!

You mentioned freezing the apples and bananas, do you have any specific methods to use? I've never frozen apples before, and any bananas we've frozen were for baking only. Can you use these frozen fruits for eating, or only baking?

THANKS!

Crystal-I freeze bananas but haven't frozen apples...do you use the same method? How are they when thawed?

I know how to freeze bananas, but how do you freeze apples? I've never tried that and am very curious! :)

I freeze apples every fall, but we only use them later for baked apples or cobblers. I peel and slice them and put them in plastic containers.

Where do you find the travel size All? I"ve looked everywhere I can think of and haven't found them yet.

Freezing apples is really easy. Peel, core, slice as if for a pie, add a tablespoon of lemon juice per four cups of apples (to avoid browning), flatten bag and freeze!

I now detest Target. I always loved shopping there and the last three times have had unbelievable problems using valid coupons. I called corporate customer service after the last problem and they said if I had the same problem next time to call them on my cell phone from the checkout. What a joke. I am 8 months pregnant and am not in the mood to have myself and my husband embarrased while the people in line behind us groan and moan. Target, please figure out a coupon policy and make sure everyone, including the managers and trainers I have run into at my local store, know the policy.

Target has not changed their coupon policy! I had the same situation happen to me and I called Target guest relations and told them the situation and asked if they could send me an official Target coupon policy with letterhead and all. No problems since then!!!

You were mentioned on our local news in Indianapolis, IN with a link to this thread.

Money Saving Mom here: Fun! Thanks so much for sharing!

On the Rayovak Batteries...does anyone else notice that they go dead really quick? I know they are FREE so shame on me for complaining...but everytime I put them in my camera they literally work for about 2-3 uses and they are DONE. They seem to work a bit longer in Kids toys, but still have a very short life span.

I just bought bananas for 50 cents a pound at my Super Target and also my ST does not carry any skittles EXCEPT the smallest size bag and since there are no size restrictions on the q, I used 6 q’s but got 12 bags of skittles (52 cents each) so the coupons would not need to be manually taken down. I also got combos for 50 cents a bag (usually $1.79 but on price drop to $1.50 minus $1 with Target Q). My poptarts were still $1.52 a box, so with the $1.oo off 2 recent q’s and the 75 cents off one Target q, I paid 27 cents per box. My bill was alomst $30 but I paid a little over $5…I love Target!

Also at Walgreens right now, there is a coupon booklet in the front of the store (back to school) with a $2 off Huggies wipes coupon. My store carries these for $2.79 and allowed me to stack with the recent 50 cents off insert q…super cheap wipes-may fav!

Kathryn, the $1 section at my store is right when you walk in the right. The ALL detergent is in the travel area for my store as well... however, the cashiers aren't accepting the coupons for them.

i am noticing that the smart source and other coupon collections must be different based on geographical location. Anybody else think that? *my* smart source did not have the bic pen coupons or the airwick freshmatic that you mention in your post. it is very discouraging to read the good deals available, only to find those coupons are not in my sunday paper inserts. :-(

flutemom, I think the same thing. I'm in northern Virginia, and there was no BIC coupon in our insert this past sunday. I did have the airwick thing, though, and managed to buy that at Target today for free. In addition to there not being a BIC coupon in the paper, the price of the 10-pack of pens was $1.00 in the store, not 50 cents. I guess you win some, you lose some! :)

Does the coupon really work for the Airwick Freshmatic also? The coupon states "Freshmatic I motion". just wondering?

I really need a decent pair of dress sandals; the famous Footwear Giftcard sure would come in handy!

I was at Target today and found $2 TQ on Glade Fabric and Air. They were priced $3.49. In a recent insert there was a coupon for BOGO, so buy two and use the bogo q and the tq for a .50 mm.

our ST outside of Houston, has bananas for .33/lb the register automatically adjusts down. If the cashier rings the bunches up sepreately I was able to use 2 Q's in one transaction. The Bics were $1 but with both Q's still free. The reach toothbrushes were on clearance for .87 all med heads, but will work for cleaning. I didn't see any .99 apples. and they didn't have any airwick imotions. All and all a good trip,
2 liters of listerine
2 floss
2 toothbrushes
applesauce 6pk
4 packs of bics
4# bananas
learning clock from the dollar spot
all for about $4 out of pocket!
