Walgreens: Reach money-maker and more

Many Walgreens stores have Reach toothbrushes and Vanilla Mint Listerine clearanced to $1.09 each. Plus, there is a Register Rewards deal going on through August 15, 2009: Buy three Reach toothbrushes or Reach floss or Listerine (500ML) in one transaction and you'll get a $6 Register Reward back.

If your store has the clearance toothbrushes and/or Listerine, this can turn into an easy money-maker--even if you don't have coupons.

Here are some ways to work this:

Buy 2 Reach toothbrushes and 1 Listerine at $1.09 each
Use 1 $3/3 coupon here (or $3/3 from the 8/2 newspaper inserts)
Spend $0.27 plus tax out of pocket, Get $6 back in Register Rewards

Buy 3 500ml bottles of Listerine at $1.09 each
Use 3 $0.50/1 coupons from the 8/2 newspaper inserts
Spend $1.77 plus tax out of pocket, Get $6 Register Rewards back

Even if you don't have coupons, if these products are clearanced at your stores for $1.09, they will be free-plus-overage after the Register Rewards.

I tried this earlier with 3 Reach toothbrushes on clearance and it didn't work. The manager even tried to ring it up different ways and nothing.

I tried to do the Listerine Reach deal at my Wags and the Register Reward did not print. The cashier told me that with the new Register Rewards system if you use a Manufactuer's coupon( I used the $5 off 3 items one) for the transaction it will not print a Register Reward. Has anyone found this to be true?

The $3 off two coupon linked requires purchase of 2 Reach and 1 Listerine 500 ml. and is coded for the Listerine so I don't think it would work w/ just toothbrushes.

There is a dbl pack of Reach ultra toothbrushes clearanced for $1.59. It does not produce the RR. bummer! I bought 2 dbl pack and 1 clearance single and used a $1.50/2 Q and bogo for the single and paid 98c with tax, but no RR.

I used the $5/3 for 3 toothbrushes, without a problem it also printed the RR.

I used a $1.00 on the Jergens and got the RR. I also used the $3/3 Listerine/reach and got that RR (but I did not get clearanced items). My store was out of the free after RR colgate.

I went to Walgreens today and couldn't find any Reach toothbrushes on clearance. If your store has them are you finding them with all the other toothbrushes or would the ones on clearance be kept elsewhere? TIA : )

I might just try the other store we have in town tomorrow, lol.

I did this with the listerine and toothbrushes! It worked! I got 6 listerine Vanilla Mint and 3 Reach brushes (3 transactions) for .81 cents and got back $18.00 in Register Rewards! Yay!

I found 2 of the $1.09 toothbrushes - only mediums were on clearance at our store. I used the $1.50 IP off 2 Reach items for those two and then purchased a $3.00 soft toothbrush for my third item and used the BOGO Reach coupon for that. For 68 cents OOP, I received the $6 RR - awesome deal - thanks : )

I am headed to another Wags tomorrow. The one I went to tonight was out of the 1.09 toothbrushes. I found some near it that I ended up buying but they were $3. But I had the $5/3 and also did the Neosporin deal and got $10 in RR.

alaska is having the grand opening of our first anchorage walgreens tomorrow! yay! i can't wait to learn how to shop there and hopefully find some of these deals. i doubt they will have clearance yet though.

I tried it with the vanilla mint and the clearance toothbrushes and no RR's printed...I used the coupons from the 8/9 paper and they didn't beep, but afterward I noticed they were for the 1L Listerine, not the 1/2L bottles I bought, so I guess I still got a good deal either way.

Also, the B2/Get $3 RR for the Listerine didn't work, either.

Pam - I tried the Listerine deal just a little while ago and didn't get my $6 RR. I was told by the Walgreens manager at my store that if I used the $5 mfg coupon on the Listerine deal, it wouldn't print out the RR. That can't be right, I've made dozens of RR deals using mfg coupons and received the RR. Guess I'll shop somewhere else...

The BTS coupon for the Zone bars says it's a manufacturer coupon good only at Walgreens. So can you still use it in combination with other manu coupons?

This didn't work for me in FL but the cashier said it was because she had to override the toothbrushes since they didn't ring up correctly. I still got the stuff for free but I may go to another Walgrns since I have another cpn to give it another try.

Hey Amanda - I have been told that you won't get a RR if you pay w/ one, but I think it was an uninformed cashier. I asked if we could try because I had done it before and it worked. However, if you are trying to buy the same product w/ the RR it will not print or sometimes RR's from the same manufacturer - I think that is what the cashier was thinking would happen.

I bought two of the 2-pack toothbrushes on clearance for 1.59 and one single pack on clearance for 1.09. I used the $3/3 and did not get a RR.

The manager said it was because the RR was for 3/$9 and because the toothbrushes I bought were on clearance and I didn't spend $9 it wouldn't print out a RR. I wonder if it was because I bought a single instead of 3 double packs, but I see others here bought the 1.09 toothbrush which was single and got the RR.

I know I've bought a Listerine/Reach product on sale before and didn't pay the full 3/$? whatever deal it was and still got a RR so I don't understand why it didn't work this time.

It's frustrating because it seems like all Walgreens cash registers and RR machines should all be set up to accept the same transactions everywhere - some people can get this deal to print a RR and others can't.

I also didn't get the RR for the transaction so I didn't keep the toothbrush and mouthwash. The manager said that the computer wouldn't print them out bc of the clearance items.
